Standing Committees of the MGOI Board 2012

Finance Committee
Mandate – Develops budget, forecast, and actuals for presentation to the Board twice annually.
Members – Wendy Fletcher (Treasurer) and volunteer with relevant CA experience

Communications Committee
Mandate - Manages internal communications; primarily website and subdomains, newsletter,
MG list, Coordinators list, handbook, and email communication of Board decisions to Coordinators.
Members – Kelly Noel (Chair), Linda Hugli (webmaster), Dianne and Gary Westlake (newsletter editors), Wendy Fletcher

Events Committee
Mandate – Develops and plans MG role in the following events: Canada Blooms, annual
Coordinators’ Conference, OHA Convention, National MG Conference.
Members – Tena Van Andel (Chair) and contact individual for each of these events

Provincial Partnering Committee
Mandate- Liaises with OHA, OMAFRA, Canada Blooms, Vineland, Niagara, University of Guelph, NSAC, Trillium, Honorary MGs
Members – James Lee, Kathleen Gorsline, and current Executive

National/International Committee
Mandate - Develops and sustains communication with both International and National existing and potential MG groups
Members – Ralph Bullough, James Lee

Education Committee
Mandate – Develops and reviews the Certification exam (three currently in use, 4th to be introduced).
Reviews the educational requirements in consultation with Coordinators. Reviews CEU requirements.
Plans with Niagara Parks for the Summer Workshops.

Resource Development Committee
Mandate - Reviews all opportunities for grants, sponsorship, foundations, Trillium funds
Members - John Craw (Chair), James Lee, Wendy Fletcher (Treasurer)

Membership and Promotion Committee
Mandate - Increases public awareness about Master Gardeners (who we are, what we do) to enable the organization to effectively provide gardening information to home gardeners across Ontario, and to instill interest of potential new members. Utilizes the public portion of the MGOI website.

International Master Gardener Conference Committee
Mandate – disseminates information to raise a Canada effort to be part of the IMGC.
Members – Ralph Bullough, Lynne Marie Sullivan, James Lee, Janet Ballantyne
